Young leaders

Swallows are proud to support the British Gymnastics ‘My Leadership Academy’, offering opportunity for young people to develop strong leadership skills. The Leadership Academy is a great way to keep involved with the sport if you want to be a gymnastics leader of the future; if you want to be a coach, judge, official, event organiser and much more!

Many of Swallows teenage gymnasts take part in the Young Leaders development plan. They are guided and mentored by Swallows’ qualified coaches. The Young Leaders role within the gym involves aiding with coaching, judging but also tasks such as event organisation and fundraising, thus gaining an insight in to finance and administration. The scheme encourages teenagers to stick with the sport in other capacities, work towards targets and develop useful life skills, experience and confidence.

2013 Christmas Party Event
Our Young Leaders raised a massive £245 this year when they organised a Christmas party at Plymouth Swallows Gymnastics Club. Also photos here from there recent event at the Plymouth Ski centre.
